Welcome to the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware

Link to 125th Anniversary scheduleThe Cathedral Choir School of Delaware has provided musical education to children and youth of Wilmington, Delaware, and the surrounding region since 1883. Our choristers range in age from seven to eighteen, and spend at least seven hours per week in choral training, free piano lessons, performance and travel. Our program raises up young people who are at risk; expects academic, social and performance excellence; and gives hope for the future.

In 2008, the Cathedral Choir School and the Cathedral Choir will celebrate 125 years of making beautiful music. An anniversary celebration is planned for Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 at the Cathedral Church of Saint John. Alumni of the choir, their family and friends, former deans of the Cathedral and members of the diocese are all invited.

Among the many festivities, a Saturday concert and evensong is planned featuring anthems composed and conducted by former Choirmasters Herb Tinney and Ray Urwin. Alumni will also sing Gardner’s Evening Hymn. Click here for the schedule details, including the menu from Gallagher & Gallagher.

Giving

Participation in the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware brings unexpected rewards and connections that last a lifetime. Every year, hundreds of alumni, parents, and friends join the Cathedral Choir School's faculty and staff to create exciting opportunities for students ages 7 to 18 to receive the finest musical education possible and to nurture their leadership and citizenship skills in the process. We invite you to participate in this effort by mentoring, and by providing gifts of time and financial support that maximize the Cathedral Choir School experience for all of the youth who participate. Together we can use music as a positive tool to intervene in the lives of young people in the Wilmington area and the region. Click here to learn more about supporting the Choir School.
