The Cathedral Choir School of Delaware has provided musical education to children and youth of Wilmington, Delaware, and the surrounding region since 1883. Our choristers range in age from seven to eighteen, and spend at least seven hours per week in choral training, free piano lessons, performance and travel. Our program raises up young people who are at risk; expects academic, social and performance excellence; and gives hope for the future.

Beverly Romain, a parishioner at the Cathedral Church of Saint John, has offered her talents as a writer to raise money for our Annual Chorister Scholarship Fund. She has written a story in honor of her grandson, Cameron Dixon who is a chorister. The book, The Day The Bell Rang, is illustrated by Lori Fitzgerald. Readers will see some familiar Cathedral characters in the story, including a choirmaster, choristers who are preparing for a Tour, a church secretary, clergy, birds in a bell tower and a mystical wind that creates music. The Cathedral Choir program has been training young singers to become tomorrow’s leaders since 1883. This year the Choir celebrated its 125th anniversary. Students receive almost ten hours per week of professional choral training, piano lessons, leadership development and mentoring. Through the Scholarship Fund, the Cathedral Choir School provides an annual scholarship worth $3,000 to its students, so that every child, regardless of income, can participate. Currently 50 students are enrolled.
Participation in the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware brings unexpected rewards and connections that last a lifetime. Every year, hundreds of alumni, parents, and friends join the Cathedral Choir School's faculty and staff to create exciting opportunities for students ages 7 to 18 to receive the finest musical education possible and to nurture their leadership and citizenship skills in the process. We invite you to participate in this effort by mentoring, and by providing gifts of time and financial support that maximize the Cathedral Choir School experience for all of the youth who participate.
