The Donald C. Taylor Legacy Society
The Donald C. Taylor Legacy Society was created to honor and recognize alumni, parents and friends who share Don Taylor’s passion for making a difference in the lives of young people and who, like Don, have included the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware in their estate plans or have made a gift to the Choir School’s Endowment Fund.
If one person could have been called the chief cheerleader and supporter of the Cathedral Choir School's founding, it was alumnus Donald C. Taylor. He served as the first Chair of the Choir School's "Continuing the Tradition" Endowment Fund, and made its first legacy gift, which upon his death became an endowment for student scholarships. As a boy, Taylor sang lead soprano and then alto in the Choir from 1938 – 1943 under the leadership of Choirmaster Paul Terry. This formative experience served him well in life. Taylor was co-founder of the law firm Cooch and Taylor in Wilmington, DE, and for twenty years served as Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware.
"Through the years, when I have helped other people, and especially young people, I have been asked what they can do to repay my help. The answer is easy. When you are older and in a position, either time wise and/or financially, to assist younger people, it will then be your privilege to help those individuals."
